Background and Rationale
Reliable and accurate information about the Palestinian minority in Israel is difficult to obtain. Even when one can obtain it, the information can be misleading. As a result, the reality of the status of the Palestinian minority is often misrepresented.
Mada al-Carmel established The Information Program in 2002. It is an attempt to provide accurate information about Palestinians in Israel and to contextualize the information from the perspective of the indigenous Palestinian minority. The Program Coordinator, Areej Sabbagh Khoury, has been working with a number of researchers to produce information papers on a variety of topics concerning the Palestinian Arab minority in Israel. Topics under consideration for this series of papers include:
- The Arab media
- Arab political parties and Arab-Jewish parties
- Arab political participation
- Education
- Higher education
- The status of the Arabic language in Israel
- Arab arts
- The socio-economic status of the Palestinians in Israel
- Gender issues
- The legal status of Palestinians in Israel
